Learn: ® Rapid STEMI ID Course
Learn: Rapid STEMI ID is a self-directed, online course that teaches healthcare professionals to use a 12- lead ECG, interpret electrocardiograms (ECGs) for signs of STEMI (ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction) and activate a system of care for rapid reperfusion of an occluded coronary artery. This course supports the efforts of the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline®, a national initiative to improve quality of care and outcomes in heart attack patients by improving healthcare systems’ readiness and response to STEMI patients.
After participating in this activity, participants will be able to:
Describe the STEMI chain of survival.
List immediate action steps to identify patients with symptoms of ACS and ECG findings of STEMI to reduce time to reperfusion.
Describe the anatomy of the heart.
Define ACS and Pathophysiology.
Identify symptoms that may be ischemic in etiology.
Distinguish the difference between ACS and MI.
Describe how to acquire a technically good 12 lead.
Differentiate a normal 12 lead ECG from a 12 lead with ischemic/injury changes.
Identify patterns of ECG abnormalities.
Identify patterns of ECG abnormalities that require rapid reperfusion and team activation.
